Week 2 Recap

What did we learn in week 2.  Let’s start with the 49ers.  Yes, they are stoppable and just when Cappy had me believing, the ‘Hawks bring him back to earth.  They better hope they do not have to go to Seattle in the playoffs.  Their last two trips there = 71-16.  #sleeplessinseattle.  I don’t know what Pete Carroll is selling there, but they are buying, buying, buying.  Good thing he does not have the NCAA rules to get in his way now…..just the NFL rules for substance abuse.

And how about that Washington football team?  Wow.  33-7 at half in week 1, 24-0 at half in week 2.  This helps explain how the Chargers, fresh off their choke job on Monday night, were able to come across the country and play a 1 pm game v. the Eagles…..and win.  The Eagles are not nearly as good as the ‘skins are bad (can we call them skins without offending anyone….since we all have skin…except maybe some burn victims).  I think a little of the Chip Kelly charm wore off on Sunday.  That’s a game you have to win….especially when Vick is healthy.  I digress; let’s go back to the ‘skins.  Aaron Rodgers looked like he was playing 7 on 7 out there. Did he have his red shirt on?  I’m starting any QB, RB or WR playing the Skins until they close up that sieve the have going on defense (see Stafford, Bush, Bell and Megatron in week 3).  Is that Jimmy Zorn calling the defense?  Maybe ole Danny boy should start tweeting that he demands better. I am sure that would be helpful to any team. #thanksJim

I am glad Boy Wonder figured out that he needed to throw it to Dez (I guess he read The Blitz week 1 analysis).  My only question…..why did you stop?  You had him lined up against Brandon Flowers who he abused all day in single man coverage on 3rd and goal.  Instead you throw the ball to a go nowhere WR screen on the other side of the field where half the defense was waiting.  If you are taking more control over the offense, make the right decisions.   And stop throwing it 2 yards shy of the 1st down on 3rd down. #Romoisaloser Yes, KC is much improved under Andy Reid, but is there anything more boring than watching Alex Smith play QB?

Okay, I do stand corrected, watching the Jags play the Raiders was definitely more boring than watching Alex Smith.  Tim Tebow rally in Jacksonville….#enoughsaid

Eli v. Peyton…hmm…..big brother beats up on little brother…..again.  Had to be painful watching Eli toss his league leading 7th INT yesterday…in two weeks…that would be 56 in a full season……that’s down right Favre like.  He has 3 more INTs than Geno Smith and Christian Ponder (side note: that’s 5 more turnovers than David Wilson).  #struggling

Is there anybody in the NFL more frustrated than Tom Brady?  Wow, Dobson and Thompkins could not catch a cold.  I mean, it’s not Tim Wakefield throwing those balls.  Brady’s putting them right there for you.  Did they catch this bad in practice?   #betheball  At least Edelman is catching a bunch of balls at 0.3 YPC.  Okay, here’s the play, take three baby Edelman steps and turn around…..

When Felix Jones is your starting RB, you know you are in trouble.  Somebody’s trash is somebody else’s trash.  Maybe you should have remembered that when you hired Todd Haley.  Did you see the Chiefs play while he was the head coach?  Is he still really hanging on to the “did you see how good the Cardinals offense was in 2008?”  He’s one of those, my system works, you just have to believe guys.  He needs to be, let me create an offense that works for the players I have guy.  #sofired

After a 2-3 start to the fantasy season in week 1, my teams went 4-1 in week 2 and all of my teams are at least 1-1.  I am not sure if the 0-2 NFL stats translate to fantasy, but I like being 1-1 a heck of a lot more than 0-2.

Follow the blog and the Twitter feed if you like what you read.  I am aiming for double digits on both this week (you have to roll over on your side before you crawl).

Guru league update.  I am now 1-1 and have the most points in our league….including 42.3 more than the Guru himself (Team Hansen).   See below.  That ranks me #107 (out of 1,850) in the overall standings.  It’s early, but I like the start.
